Everything you need to know about our process serving services
Process serving is the formal delivery of legal documents (such as summons, complaints, subpoenas, and court orders) to the parties involved in a legal proceeding. In New Jersey, service of process must be performed by an authorized individual over the age of 18 who is not a party to the case, in accordance with NJ Rules of Court R. 4:4-3 and R. 4:4-4.
Standard service typically takes 1-3 business days. Same-day service is available for documents received before 10 AM. Rush and weekend services are also available. The timeline can vary depending on the accessibility of the person being served and their location.
We serve all 21 counties in New Jersey. Our office is located in Jersey City (Hudson County), and we have a network of servers positioned throughout the state for quick response times. We also coordinate service in New York City and Eastern Pennsylvania.
We need the original documents to be served (or certified copies), the name and last known address of the person to be served, any additional identifying information (physical description, workplace, vehicle info), and your contact information for updates and billing.
We provide real-time updates via email or phone throughout the service process. Once service is completed, you will receive a notarized Affidavit of Service (also called Proof of Service) that includes the date, time, location, and method of service, along with GPS verification data.
If the individual is evasive, we employ several strategies including multiple attempts at different times of day, weekend and early morning attempts, stakeout services, and skip tracing. If personal service is ultimately not possible, we can discuss alternative methods permitted under NJ law, such as substituted service or service by publication.
